Ryan’s focus is on estate planning and trust and estate litigation. Complex estates and poorly drafted documents frequently create contests between heirs and beneficiaries. He is often called upon by trustees and personal representatives to guide them through administration or by heirs and beneficiaries to fight for their property rights where a trustee or personal representative is neglecting their duties. He uses his trial experiences as feedback to constantly improve his estate planning practice, ensuring his clients preserve their legacy an avoid needless conflict. Ryan is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Nebraska. Ryan is an alumni of the American College of Trust and Estate Council’s Heartland Institute. Ryan is also admitted to and has appeared before the United States Tax Court.
Ryan would describe his family background as “non-traditional”. He is familiar with complex family situations, and sensitive to the inter-family politics that permeate conflicts in trusts, estate, and business succession planning and litigation.
Ryan and his wife Elizabeth are lifelong residents of the Omaha metro area, both graduates of Central High School, and parishioners of St. Cecilia’s Cathedral. They have four exuberant young boys who leave them no shortage of things to worry about. Although he lacks any real talent, Ryan claims to enjoy golfing in scrambles. It’s fair to say he has more success talking his way onto a team than he does on the course.
